Very nice, you dont' see many SAS newer burbs

That's a pretty sweet burb.

I just did my 99 Silverado. I love this body style and they look amazing on a solid axle! I used a 79 Ford Dana 60 and an AAM 11.5 from a 2500HD.

Thanks! I have owned this suburban for over 4 years, i put a 3" lift on it few years back. It still looked like a moms ride and had to change that. Plans was for 10"lift but ended up 14. Im taking it out this weekend to see how it does and will post more pics

I used a leaf spring setup and kept it low enough to stay on 35s. If I wanted, I think 37s would clear no problem, however I'm running 4.10s and the 4.8 doesn't want much more. The 5the speed helps though! I just wanted decent capability, good solid parts and reliability...well, more than I could get from the IFS anyway. Technically, I've got 8" on the front, but I'm not entirely sure. I'd love to see how flexible it is with a coil spring setup.

Did you swap in an NP241 t case?

Im soon going to see how good it will flex, ill post pics maybe sunday. I have not changed transfer case yet because im not sure what i want to go with. I heard i can convert to a 243. Suggestions would be on what to go with would be appreciated

I used a 241C from an early to mid 90s Chevy truck. Cheap, fairly strong, and I had a floor shift t case before so from inside the truck everything looks stock and works like stock. I also did a JB Conversions slip yoke eliminator and my rear shaft has 1410 joints on both ends. The front shaft is from a mid 80s GM truck, but all I used was the flange and CV assembly that got re-tubed and the proper size joint and slip put on the differential end.

Was the 243 an electric shift? If so, I'm sure you could use that and figure out how to make in engage. For the speedo, you just splice on another pigtail to fit the VSS. It controls the speedo, odometer, and rear ABS if that matters to you.

Yes 243it is electronic but not auto. Problem is with the 246 is the fact it turns all the time. I have to keep drive shaft out to drive on thesuburban road, and i hate doing that. I would like to keep it electronic so i want have to cut a hole right now.

Thanks for the reply's so far. I blew the stock 5.3 tipping it over right before this pic was taken. Im now about to install a 6.0. I plan on much better pics and much more good times!

Any plans for heavier axles? That 6.0 with Boggers and half tons might not get along very well!

What gears are you running? I stuck with 4.10s since the 11.5 rear I got from a 2500HD was already geared to it, but I'm really thinking of dropping to 4.56s. 4.88s are a hair low and I plan to stay on 35s. The bad part is, I just regeared the front two weekends ago and put the locker in...and a set of gears for an AAM 11.5 are NOT cheap! Neither are the Detroit or Grizzly Lockers for them....close to 900 bucks.

If/when you do swap out the rear, it shouldn't be too hard to swap in a 10.5 or 11.5 from a newer 2500HD and weld on the proper bracketry. At least it's easy to get parts for and you can keep your parking brake, if that matters at all. The 10.5 still uses almost all of the same internal parts as the old 14 bolts, so a locker and gears would be very easy to find and cheaper. You could probably live with the 44 front and just swap to 8 lug outers. It's kind of a pain to swap front axles and steering and all that other stuff. It gets expensive real quick!

This is my 2000 Ls 1500 I did a sas and coil sprung it's at about 10" but going a little higher. Yours looks good.. and yes I broke my lockout off lol!
