Did a little work on the $50 generator today. It was on an ice cream truck and I bought it years ago with no idea if it worked or not because it had no fuel tank. Brought it home and it works. It has been tucked under the workbench in the shop for a long time. I am in the process of mounting it on a trailer so I can pull it behind the tractor.
Since it has no fuel tank starting it is interesting. The PO installed an electric fuel pump on it so I drop the fuel line in a gas can and hook the pump up to a battery. When fuel spurts out of the engines vacuum fuel pump ( usually about 3 seconds) disconnect the battery and pull the rope. Starts first time every time.
Had a friend weld an elbow and a piece of pipe to the booger welded pipe that was attached to the exhaust manifold and I dropped a Harley exhaust pipe ( that i got in a load of scrap) over the pipe and it is 50 times quieter.
