Well, it didn't fall off all the way, but 1 hinge broke on my daily driver ZJ, so the door hung so crooked it would not close. I had to drive it home holding on to the door.
I took it off at home, now I'll have to get the garage wired for the welder so I can fix the hinge.
Driving it around yesterday evening, I could tell all the SUV drivers were jealous that their door was not off!

The doors havnt been on my RamCharger in about two years. Ive drove it quite a few times this year to work at the FD, and here this past week the person across the street from the FD took the doors off his Trooper  Theres also a mid to late 90s ford running around town with out doors now too. Its a catching trend.......

I think the zj hinges must be notoriously weak. My buddys abusive ex girlfriend slammed the driver door on his leg when he was getting out, fucked his knee up pretty bad (he had to wear a brace of some sort for a week) and the hinge was broken the next time he looked at it, so could be a fluke or just a bad part. Either way, may be easy this time to just go to a buddies and get it done since it still moves under its own power.

Who was it that made the commercial years ago about how cheap their car was where the first line is when the neighbor comes up and mockingly says, "Will the door come off the hiiinnges?"

I needed to wire a welder outlet in the garage anyway.
I thought maybe I'd see the door in a shopping cart
I like how it looks without the door, take off the rest
Hmmm, maybe I should go back to Wal-Mart for a photo-op! It would make the story better with a picture like that!

It was fun driving it with no door. But it did force me to finally wire the garage for a welder since I have my father-in-law's welder here.
I learned real quick how thin that door metal is, as I quickly burned a hole in it on the first attempt at a weld!! Had to turn the heat way down.

It's the cool thing to do around here it seems. I drove a dodge durango with no doors for a few weeks. There's a few XJ's and ZJ's and a 2wd S10 on 35's that's seen more trail time then most of the lifted 4x4's around here all running doorless. Been considering taking the 'yotas doors off since the ac isn't functional...
