My Sunday evening went lie this.

Carmel found a nail and ripped her leg open

Took her to the emergency vet and forked over $364

Now she is in the cone of shame.

It could be worse.............China had a tumor late last year and bills close to 2K to fix that. They took so much skin the staples ripped out after 5 days and 2 more surgeries were needed when stitches also broke and re-opened the wound. She is doing fine now. I hope your dog is too!

Yikes! Porter did one like that, but the emergency vet thought it was barbed wire. I think it was closer to $700... and one whiny-ass dog for a couple of days. Not to mention the beating my legs took because he repeatedly ran into me at FULL SPEED while wearing the cone of shame.

Carmel is tough. She has not whimpered once. She is figuring out that if she leaves the stitches alone she doesn't have to wear the cone. Dog is too smart for her own good. She is also milking it for all she is worth.

Looks like a mix between John Goodman and Patton Oswold.

KEEP THE COLLAR ON TILL IT"S HEALED!!!.......We had a stupid/useless inflatable one on China and after 3 weeks of her never seen messing w her wound she hooked it w a canine and ripped open the stitches causing another expensive trip to the vet and scaring the crap out of momma. We finally put the cone of shame on her and it will prevent any messin w it. She wore it almost always for severel months and seemed to like it just fine after a while and would not object to having it installed at all. BIG dogs rule  , It's nice to have a dog big enough to hug!
