My neighbor is an idiot, is yours?

So this is the thread to post about idiot neighbors. I have a few encounters with one neighbor, and he never ceases to amaze me. I won't spill the beans all at once, but surely I can't be the only one.

First and one of his lesser stupid moments:

We have chickens, as most people know, chickens eat ANYTHING. There is a fence between our property, but easily gotten under or over by a chicken. When we first got them he enjoyed them coming in his yard. They regularly went over because he puts corn in his backyard to keep squirrels off his deck. Now the kicker: His deck is 100ft from the corn, and he has bird feeders on his deck. Do you really think corn 100ft away will keep a squirrel from coming on your deck? On top of that, the bird feeders are directly over his tomatoes/garden area, and he wonders why the chickens and squirrels tear up his garden. The chickens don't go over there as much as they used to because he stopped putting the corn out finally (I also moved their coops much further away from the property line). "If you feed them they will come....". Stop feeding them you idiot!

It only gets dumberer from here šŸ˜‚

Next:

Was having 4 giant poplar trees cut down sometime last year, two were in the neighborhood of 120' tall. I hired someone local to come drop them for me.

They brought a 92' spider lift (fairly small tracked machine). About an hour into the job, my neighbor texted me:

"Do you know someone is out here cutting your trees down?"

I mean, how do you respond to that? For reference, I am at a dead end, down a (usually) gated driveway, and definitely no access to those particular trees without going around behind my house...

And in case you were wondering, still not the dumbest thing he's managed. But I really want to hear some other stories to put my mind at ease, I can't be the only one šŸ˜‚

Thankfully I can't hit my closest neighbors house with a 12 gauge but I do have one neighbor that apparently thinks he is the mayor and apparently thinks he is in charge of everything that goes on.. its a dead end road so he likes to ride up and down the road and has cameras up past his house for "security"

I did have a neighbor bring his dog across the road to my property daily to do his routine. I asked why and requested him to stop.
His response was that's why we moved to the country and out of town. Geeze.
Month later he stated he was having a large family gathering. More or less insisted we allow his group to ride four wheelers on our property. He's seen us cutting some mountain bike trails. Those have grown shut now. His answer after I asked why he expected to be able to ride since he had promised his family some seat time and again "it's why we moved out of town"!

I had great pleasure watching teenagers on five quads tear up his 1.5 acres all weekend.
He also used our adjacent drive at a house we rent to cut across his property. One whose drainage ditch kept getting mashed shut by his tracks. Took two conversations and one not so politically correct to stop this from occurring weekly.

Last the poor fellow blew up his out building. As in doors walls and five firetrucks. Being a decent human/neighbor and concerned for his handicapped son I checked in. I was being an ass at that point. Needless to say we don't wave or speak anymore.

I feel attacked
I don’t, I know I’m the asshole. But, I also keep to myself and don’t waste my time with their affairs. It’s just that I’m the first house on a private road so I get to see everyone rip past my house tearing the hell out of the road I maintain and some of them have a balls to stop and ask when I’m gonna get around to grading the road after they top fuel dragster it and don’t lift a finger or their wallet to help out.

So is this one of those things where if you don't have an idiot neighbor, then its probably you?

If so, well then sh*t.
My neighbor shoots off his back porch, blares music with the garage doors open, works on projects loudly all hours, has junk cars and a boat sitting around the property...

Oh wait, it's me...

Good thing my neighbors don't know this site / thread exists

I firmly believe my neighbors think we're methheads due to the fact that we tend to stay outside working on stuff
examples:
-my wife has on many occasions been going up and down the driveway in the pitch black due to her insane hatred of leaves in the fall
-cutting and beating on various projects well after dark
-the kid cleaning animal pens late after having time to do it during the day
-yelling at various pets

Keep in mind that we live in a cow pasture but my neighbor is directly 200ft through the woods. I honestly cant complain about them, they havent said anything to us negatively although she did put up some guards around her daylilies she planted beside the highway. In my defense, i didnt see them or really care.

Dumb, different, weird and unable to compute is numerous times better then an a-hole!

There is an a-hole in the neighborhood as well, luckily though he isn't adjoining property so I don't have to deal with him.

My neighbors think I'm insane...I like it that way, cuts down on interactions.

Also, they've had the cops/animal control visit multiple times & have had felony charges thrown their way.

One of my a-hole neighbors up the street used to walk his dog around the neighborhood and let it poop wherever. My neighbor two houses up told him to knock it off, but he continued. Well once day he comes down to the end of our road and claimed my dogs attacked him, so he broke a golf club over Sarges head (no worries, sarge showed no signs of harm). He then proceeded ONTO my POSTED property 'to complain'. I videoed the conversation, he threatened to sue, but I came to realize since he was on my property (clearly in the video ---he didn't know I was videoing) that he had no case. I ended up filing trespassing charges on him, now I just smile and wave every time I see him in the neighborhood.

He even told me on video he had gotten over $6k from some other neighbors when their dog "attacked" his. I knew right then he was just using his dog as bait to try and instigate something. I let it go with them giving him community service and an order to stay away as it was during covid and they were trying to avoid trials. I kind of wish I had pursued it further just to prove a point. But it at least cost him a lawyer and such.

My neighbor's for sure think I'm the idiot. The look of horror on their face when the wheeler leaves the garage for a test rip, or if I take it to work or something is priceless . I do try to keep the banging on and grinding metal after dark to a min though unless it's something critical.

My neighbor's let their damn cats run all over the neighborhood and they fight on my deck all the time. My wife thinks I'm an asshole because I try to startle them so they fall the 12ft down off the side. Annoying, why have strictly outdoor cats if you don't live on a damn farm?

I have never understood the idea of having strictly outdoor cats in a neighborhood. They aren't "yours", they're just using you as a home base to guarantee food. Its more like you're sponsoring a colony of terrorists.

That's my stance on it. We need some yotes or foxes back in the hood to start picking them off.

My dogs have killed at minimum 10 cats. I have trapped/killed 4-5. I really need to set the trap again, it's ridiculous. Some lady in the trailer park back through the woods that feeds them.... I don't mind people owning cats as long as they keep them on their property ----which is impossible. So I also don't mind when their cats don't make it back home.

Got one that moved down from jersey. Loves all the small town gossip except its all wrong. Literally makes up stuff in their head. Loves to tell people what they should and shouldn't do.

Last was insinuating we shouldn't use the driveway beside his house bc his dogs go crazy. and should go around and use our other entrance. (we rarely used this drive but still is an easement.) Also on the easement we use the first 100 feet of his driveway and then on us he uses the last 800ft to get to his shop. They Starting parking vehicles in the way saying we are getting to close to their new cars. so now i make it a point to use that drive and run off in the yard if i have to.

People don't own cats.
Cats just have support staff, some of which are delusional about who is in charge.

Full disclosure, there are two living here with my family. Once we all came to this understanding it was a lot easier.

My neighbor is just nosey, and a little grouchy. But she's also a great source of intel and is the neighborhood watchdog. Now the folks down in the the holler on the other hand. They are a problem.

Had one right after we moved in that would drift through the stop sign and into our yard. I "lost" a 24"Ɨ7' log right on the white line of the road. Absolutely demolished his shitty little dodge dart. He didn't drif that intersection anymore...
