It's been a long journey for Heroes 1st Inc, it started out as a FB group, then started transitioning into a an actual 501(c)3 nonprofit. I completely funded it myself, had some fellow 1st Responders and Military Vets that kept me going when I wanted to give up. But we are here now, helping people, financially, peer support, service dogs and getting them to the doctors they need and therapists.

"Heroes are made by paying the ultimate price. We stand firmly that we can and will pay them back for their priceless acts of heroism."

"We discretely provide financial assistance for those seeking mental health services for autonomy. We provide pairing persons with service dogs which includes all fees and training." This is for 1st Responders, Military, Nurses, etc, but we will try to help anyone.

That's a fantastic cause and I am very glad to hear of more support services for those in need. I am medically retired from the military and 70% through the VA and can personally attest to the endless mountains of BS and stress that can be piled on when a veteran is attempting to navigate all this. A support system is a must and unfortunately, a lot of people don't have the support they need. My old-lady works as a peer support specialist and seeing what she's able to do in helping get people lined up with services and acting as an advocate to help advance their goals has been huge in getting people the help and resources they desperately need. Congratulations and thank you for doing this!

Elkin is right next door. Dobson ain't far either. Good to know there are locals willing to help! Great cause, I'll try and get a few plates.

Now that you're an official 501c3, be sure to file w/ the state as a charity so you can avoid paying sales tax on purchases. Its only a small % but it can add up quick when buying supplies for fundraisers or outreach activities.
