I put this together over the past couple of days. Measured up the body to within 1/4", got the seats in there too.

See any problems? 72ft of tube. 1.75, 120wall. I forgot to add the seatbelt bar and a triangulated brace above it. I plan to also tie it into the frame.

Looks ok to me. Only problem I see is the a pillar. If you rotate them in that much to make the roof bars form an X, you're gonna have a lot of angle in the windshield from the front.

Not sure I follow ya? The windshield is at the correct angle.

"approx 23-25 deg from VERTICAL" got that off another forum. It probably won't have a windshield for most of its life but I would still like it to be done right the first time.

I mean lookind at it from head on, or standing in front of it. The A pillar bars behind the windshield will look more like this /\.

ah, ok. Thanks for the comments.
I don't see a problem with this with my cage but I understand what ur sayn.
I used a compound bend. Thats the key.

Why not mount your seats to it while you're at it?
I like it. Looks good.

Good point. I planned to do that but I have no idea why I didn't include it in the design, ha. I'll add it in there.

Looks nice and strong...what are you going to be building it out of?

1.75 .120wall DOM. Material alone is gonna be around $400 if I can't find it any cheaper than $5/ft.

Design looks good... however, CJ5s are just inherently cramped after caging.

You'd best either be a "little bitty fellow" or never get in a hurry getting in/out...

:stupid:
Thats alota bends for a small cage.Youll probly have to modify your planes as you go.
But it does look good.
Bring your front windshield bar up some more to give you more head room.the factory top still shound clear.

5' 11" , 155lbs :) When I made the tub I moved the stepup back about 3 inches so I could mount the seats further back without having the steering wheel in my chest.

I updated it a little with the seat tie-in and seatbelt bar behind the seats. THere is also gussets on that bar.

Looks good, i just finished the seat mounts for my cj5, it was a pain in the ass to say the least. Ill try to get pics up soon. I used the baja ss seats and had to cut all of the front of the wheel tub out to get them to sit far enough back. Good lookin cj by the way!

I think you need to quit clicking and start welding.. :flipoff2:
