Nice, let's go wheeling since you're 45 minutes up the road from me.

sweet

definitely...... And i got a chrysler 8.25 rear and a dana 30 front. Fenders are diamondplate. Was like that when i got it.

I knew as soon as I seen that pretty Xj it was you john. Really nice rig. It was at my house friday. Can't wait to get mine back on the trails.

Well I think it looks nice. But no way would I wheel it. I could break those axles with those tires at will. So go real easy on the throttle and don't bounce.

Also learn how to replace shafts and carry spares. Do them in the driveway so you know how. This way you're not doing for the first time at 3:30 on a trail in the dirt and tired.

ok, where do i go to get spare shafts? Junkyard? New? How hard are they to change? If you can't tell, i'm completely new to this...lol. Also, i'm going to downsize to 35's as soon as i find some.

Honestly I'd buy alloys from East Coast Gear Supply (vendor here) and use your stockers as spares. 35's is a good combo for those axles. I wouldn't go any larger. If you can't afford alloys at this point go junkyard.

I don't think they are hard to change. It's just nuts, bolts and gear oil. Have somebody local come over and show you. If you were near me I would show you. Infact I've done it several times with locals. They come over. I walk them through it. I don't do the work as they'll never learn this way. I keep my hands clean for when they buy me lunch.

okie dokie... Wish you were closer. I'd gladly buy someone lunch for teaching me a thing or two about this jeep. Guess i'm gonna get some junkyard ones for now. Do i need the front and rear ones? Also, if anyone has 35's and they want these brand spankin new 37's, let me know.

Front and rear. The front is the same on all model years, except pre 91 that had a vacuum disconnect. Make sure you put new joints in when you get them just for insurance. The rear should be a 29 spline 8.25. They are decently strong.

If you feel like coming down to Pull a part in Columbia one day soon I'll help you pull some. I might even have a set laying around I'll give you.

definitely.... As soon as we get some warmer weather. And i get some cash. And some time...lol. Got a pregnant wife who is out of work, so we're living off my income alone. Times are tight at the moment and i'm working all the time. But definitely soon.

yes with that set up id def have spares on hand. had to buy a shaft off a guy for $25 in the middle of kodak rock at URE, then jack the jeep up and stack rocks, learn how to change a shaft in 90+ degree heat with a massive hangover. not to mention the carrier had been welded and some slag got on the C clips. whole process took like 6 hours, didnt have the right tools, and managed to piss a lot of people off for blocking part of the rock garden the whole time. there is pics on here somewhere.
GO PREPARED!!! lol
