Wondering what this hose is on my 98 TJ..

Whatever it is, its not connected to any thing, and hanging off the bottom of the jeep, so im thinking its a bad thing that its not there.

Sorry for the blurry pics. I dont have a camera of my own, and my sisters is a POS.

Almost looks like an o2 sensor, but you'd be getting a light if it was.

that looks like the check valve for the vacuum controlled axle actuater. its part of a preassembled harness wrapped in that plastic conduit crap.

somebodys been working on your jeep.

Yeah actually someone has been.

I was thinking that was probably when it happened.

And yes, there is a plastic harness down there.

Do i need to connect it back to anything?

yes, the bellhousing so it does not get burned by the exhaust or ripped off.

The checkvalve is supposed to connected to the atmosphere

Is it the vent for the T-case? That's what mine looked like on my 97 TJ. It's supposed to run up between the passenger side firewall and engine, and be facing upwards. Can't remember what that tab bolted to. The other end of the hose should be connected to the top of the T-case.

98 TJ would not have vacuum controlled axle actuater, right?

Its the T case vent. Should be attached to the bell housing about 3 oclock.
Get it up and out from under your rig.
