Nags Head Eateries (OBX)

I did a search and came up with a few places, but....where are the REAL genuine seafood restaurants near Nags Head? I want the local (hole in the wall, dive bar?) place that serves real, locally sourced, GREAT seafood. Open to other suggestions as well. We are headed there for a long weekend this Friday. TIA.

Armstrong's Seafood has prepared and fresh stuff and was good let time we were there.

We hit up Capt. Henrys in Kill Devil when we were down there earlier in the year. Do not make that mistake! I bought a captains platter with an extra baked potato (for me and my 55lb 10 yo daughter to split) 2 waters for us and my wife who doesn't eat seafood ordered a plain grilled cheese and a water(the waitress said she couldn't order off of the kids menu). It was $38 dollars and I was still hungry, the service was sub-par the seafood was not nearly as good as I can get here in central NC. All in all it was a bad experience. So I will be watching this thread for advice also on my next trip to the area.

Tortugas Lie is always fresh with a Caribbean flare. I've been eating there for over 20 years and have never been let down.

Nothing like going to a fine restaurant and heading to Taco Bell after to get full.

Might want to check conditions before you head out! Ocracoke is under Evacuation in the AM. Possibly Hatteras too! Maria's gonna Blow!

I know it's not really that close to Nags Head, but since Lou brought it up - I was pretty disappointed with Howard's when we were at Ocracoke last month. I hadn't been in probably 10 years. Their beer list used to be epic, now it's garbage. I believe Miller Lite was on the international/craft beer list, FFS. Seems like it has become a tourist spot only at this point. I don't know how the food is anymore - we waited for about 10 mins for our server to come to the table, and after looking at the beer list and meal prices we just left.

Both great food. Black Pelican has a little more "bar" scene and is pretty casual and Miller's a little less casual but both have great food.

If you need a place for breakfast/coffee and craft beer...friends of mine own this place. And if I do say so myself, The 'Ben' is mighty tasty and has been their besting selling breakfast sandwich for 5 years...

So, we got here earlier today and just went to the nearest place to us. The Kill Devil Grill. It was excellent! And was absolutely packed about an hour after we left. We just sat at the bar and the staff was awesome. Outer Banks Restaurant - Kill Devil Grill (252) 449-8181
