I need new tires. Must be:

--33x12.50x15 (same as I have)
--Want mud-terrain tread, not AT
--Radials

This is on an intermediate CJ-5

Typical usage:

--Uwharrie NF
--red nc clay -- i avoid big mud, but need to work in wet/slick clay
--some paved road, but not very much, once in a long while around town
--occasional sand

What are my best candidates?? What to avoid?? Who stocks or can get fast, and has a good deal??

Gotta go with the tried and true BFG MT. Good mileage, great traction, great street manners, and they are sold lots of places so you can always get someone to price match.

However, i am loving the MT/R's I have now, and they do well enough for me in the red sticky stuff

Even though I'm not a big fan, I know a guy who is a dealer for ProComps and he said with the experience he has had, they last longer than BFGs, mainly if youre going to be driving on road at all. But I don't know whateveryone else thinks about them.

IMHO BFG MT's,

I also have a set of Maxis Mudders on my J truck, have to admit, they are wearing excellent. I am pleasantly surprised.

Dayton Timberline M/T, I had 9.50X30 and 10.50X31 and they work great in URE. I think they clean better than my Super Swampers.

from presonal experience....stay away from procomps.....they have weak sidewalls

Man all these posts and no one has recommended Thornbirds

They are like the greatestest off road tires ever.
And they clean out so well:rolleyes:

Ive seen multiple people run Dunlop Mud Rovers and love them. They can be had for under $500 for a set of four also, IIRC.

Coopers. Ive got me a set of this and love these tires to death. they are quite and have superb traction. I really would recommend this to anyone.

Trxxus MT - Cooper STT - Maxxis BigHorn - BFG MT

If the BFG's had sipes in the tread they would be the #1 choice for me.

Personally, I think the MT/R's suck in the sticky and/or red stuff ,,,but they are great on highway and URE

trxus are awesome, my bro had them. i had tsl radials and they were awesome too. great road hum :D , wear really good, good offroad, cheap. dunlops are great for the price, but you might want to have them siped for wet/icy conditions.
