Starting to get the two confused now...:shaking:

Straight to the point, I think JG blew his cap over every bit of a 100% legit move by BK...

IMHO, I very seriously doubt it will result in much more than a hand slap but I hope the Rainbow Worrier gets put in his place and NASCAR finally steps up to put a foot down and sets him up as a future example... Some call it entertaining. I call it pure unsportsmanlike childish behavior that does nothing but teach the wrong lesson. In any other sport, besides Nascar and Ice Hockey, this would have resulted in more than what I expect him to receive...

Has Nascar's hurtin from the recession lead up to this becoming the normal behavior to try to boost ticket sales back up closer to pre-recession levels? When asked if "The Chase" has helped or hurt Nascar, let the ticket sales speak! I think Nascar has transformed into more of a thug bi-partisan club of Tsars than ever before.

If you can't take the heat, go back to midget racing til you can grow up!!!! If Nascar don't clean their act, I like my sports and all but I'm becoming tired of wasting my time watching a provoked soap opera where fans now wake up and tune in AFTER the race to watch what their favorite cry baby can say or do...

My 2!

Got a vid of what caused it all? I've seen the fight posted 100 times on facebook today.

Hockey fans aren't usually NASCAR fans and vice versa.
Difference between northern rednecks and southern rednecks: NASCAR and ATV's vs Hockey and Snowmobiles

Can't find it no where now... Guess Nascar pulled it to try to save their image but there's an in-car-camera view that showed it all.

Excellent point jeepinmatt! For those that didn't watch it, this thread just became worthless without that film...

I dunno i watch both NASCAR and NHL but i'd have to pick NHL if i could only watch one...

The video was on ESPN.com when i checked. There was a hole that BK could've slid thro but JG tried to close it and it wasnt a major hit just a little rubbin that ended with JG getting a flat. Not defending BK but thats my .02 .......... Go Denny!

Fight??? what fight???? You mean that lil pushin match between the pit crews??? If they ever had a real fight, you know one where somebody got carried off, nascar would shit.If a driver was realy wantin to beat somebodies ass they would wait til they didnt have the pit crew and all the officials around, like in the parking lot after the race. The way they did it was just a safe way to act like a bad ass,one was scared and the other was glad he was.

around 6:30 is where the incident has occured.

I havent watched NASCAR in a few years. IMO, yrs ago, NASCAR started thinking they were better than they are and discouraged aggressive driving and incidents on and off the track. A couple yrs ago they decided to loosen the reigns on drivers to try and bring the crowds back, thinking that the fights of old were what brought fans. Now when you have drivers that are aggressive on the track (BK &KyB), the top drivers get pissy and cause a rucus. I guess they have decided to settle it on pit road since NASCAR wont anymore. A big SoapOpera as mentioned before.

The one thing I found funny, is looked like KH was actually the one who started it all on pit road.

I think they should just let them fight. instead of having them hold grudges and act pissed at the other person for an extended period of time... let them get it out like in Hockey...they push, they shove, they fight, they move on.

But see heres the thing, they dont move on.In my day if u got in a fight in school and got your ass beat that was the end of it,but now a days if you get beat down you get your posse, pappys old gun,or a ball bat and go back until you win.Where my son goes to school youll get in as much trouble for fightin as sellin dope.

Whenever something smells funny follow the dollars.

NASCAR experienced their single largest uptick in ratings in the sports nearly 100 year history following Cale Yarborough and Donnie Allison fighting in the infield at Daytona on live TV. In fact the only weekly uptick close to the next week of that incident was the week after Dale Sr's death, and it was only half as large by percentages.

Now fast forward to the worst down trend in rating in the sports history (in fact the ONLY downtrend in its history) and the dollars are now epidemic level. Nascar track ownership was a shell game for mnay years in the late 90s. Each race only covered the financial costs of the improvements made after the previous race...tracks were going deeper and deeper in debt to atrract bigger and bigger crowds. A Loss leader business model only works when there is an eventual growth stagnation and harvesting period OR a sell off. Neither has happened. Several large NASCAR track owners are in Jeopardy right now. Several in very dire straights. NASCAR has to do something and now.

So like any good business they looked in their past and looked for what drove ratings.

I have a good friend who works for a prominent NASCAR team. He has been a crew member (both over and behid the wall) on multiple championships this decade. I've known this guy since I was a teenager hauling him and his dad to go kart races because his dad couldnt drive due to legal troubles and he was only 8-9 years old. I trust what he tells me implicitly. He found himself along with a few others in the "hauler" earlier this year after an on track incident where a couple cars were destroyed. According to him the conversation went basically "We are fining each of you $XXX...dont risk the safety of each other and the fans, blah, blah, blah." Once everyone agreed. And they were about to be dismissed he said they were stopped and said, "One more thing. If you guys have a problem with each other Fight it out like men. But make sure and do it in view of the TV cameras..if its good enough we might refund these fines."

Heard the same stuff for years from an number of friends who work for teams either in the shop or at the track. That's pretty much how they have handled any of these altercations over the last few years. When Helton opened his mouth and said "Boys, have at it", he knew exactly what he was doing. It has worked. Social media, Sports Center etc have replayed that stuff thousands of times and each time it brings the sport right in front of millions of people.

They have changed the business model at most tracks in the last few years and its slowly working. At the bigger tracks they are closing off sections of seats and selling the space to advertising, just covering the seats in banners and signs rather than butts. This guarantees money for those sections, and in turn they sell fewer tickets, which are trending toward higher prices each year to drive demand for the seats that are available.

To that end:

Hey @Dylan W. - NASCAR is rigged. Tony said so himself.

Sort of.
In some cases those advertising banners are trade offs for fail to deliver clauses.
I know persoally in one major tracks case where they did this they had a marketing agreement for $x,xxx, xxx to make XXX the official XXX of the racetrack. Part of the clause of the contract included a ticket or seatholder guarantee. This is old news in the promoter world but when advertising dollars take over, you "paper" the stands. That is you give tickets away, just to fake it after you make it. Welll when it reaches the point where you ant even give them away, said advertiser comes with his hand out for the owed money. When the advertiser's attorneys and accountants say, "the racetrack is broke" well then you take what you can get. Extend the agreement for 20 years, huge banners all over the place. Remove the competitor's product etc.

I can name 3 HUGE Nascar tracks that may not operate in the next 3 years.

I think NASCAR should put the Chase contenders in a 4 post ring with folding chairs and 2x4's and whoever wins the match, wins the Cup.

If you get the two confused maybe you should try watching curling. It is a slower pace and the emotions never run that high.

Went to the torc race I'm charlotte last year. They made us all sit in the center section to make it look like more people were there.

Going to WoO this weekend and can guarantee a sell out.

Welp, Rick Hendrick Motorsports -$185,000 / Nascar +$185,000. That will make up for a few empty seats.

Bottom line I guess, I don't know the going rate for a Nascar crew member, but $25,000 plus out of work for a year and a half would probably hurt!

Heck, I'm POSITIVE $50,000 each from 2 crew chief's is a dent in the wallet as well...

And how easy is it to pick up 4 new crew members in one week?

Wonder if Rick Hendrick will pick up the tab?:burnout:

I think justice was served for I'd take lashings before having to pay that much money. And funny how this will all only make next weekend even MORE interesting in so many aspects...

Funny how Nascar seems so corrupt but it only adds to the drama... Think they don't know what they are doing?

Curling??? o_O:shaking:
