NASCAR Revamps Points System ......

even if you figure up points on new system, he still beat Hamlin by 5 pts. either way Junior sucks

It doesn't matter about the points system love or hate him JJ is the best driver out there right now! Trust me I do not like him or whiny Chad but they are the best there is right now.

I liked NASCAR when it was not on a points system and they took the one who won the most races that year was the driver of the year and rubbing was racing .Not the pansy BS of today .

Agreed...the cookie cutter cars ruined it for me. And JJ may be a good driver, but being the conspiracy theorist I am, and believe in the fact that major sports are like any other business...I see the fact that revenue was down for Nascar, and they were losing big sponsorship money. They needed a hero...what better way to generate interest and money than creating such a dominant force in the form of JJ. You either love him cuz he's a winner, or hate him because he's a winner.

speaking of conspiracy theories. isnt it a bit odd that the total max points for a winer of a race adds up to 48??

I like the new rules... The races were getting very boring to watch. I'd rather see a slower, shorter race, with more passing and less huge pile ups.. Oh wait isn't that how they used to race? I still only watch a few CashCar races anymore...

I agree...I think NASCAR has given an advantage to the 48 team due to the down ratings etc of the last few years. They needed a spark and like any business will do anything it takes to get that spark.

To get the fans back, NASCAR needs more excitement. Here's my plan:
Quit making all the cars the same. Allow the manufacturers to look different from each other.
And Make several different size gas tanks. The smallest gas tank allows the team to be more radical with the body and spoiler but they have to pit more. The largest tank forces the team to use a less desirable body and spoiler, but they don't have to pit as often.

I think it still ought to be like it used to be: run what you brung. Take a car straight off the lot, take the windows out of it and install a cage. You'd eventually have a much better product on the road, racing would be much better IMO, and the dealerships could go back to "Win on Sunday, sell on Monday".
