So my oldest is starting the path towards college. Things sure have changed since I applied for college. A little overwhelming.

Anyhoo, she is big into FAA and wants to continue with education based on Livestock side of Agriculture. She came home talking about NCSUs Agriculture Institute. Sounds like trade school for Ag from what I gather.

Anyone know much about the school? Maybe even attended? Really wanting to know what you leave there with and what you can do with it?

Another friend went for agribusiness, then got a accounting degree. And works for Cargill. (Look it up, huge agricultural company among other things.... like a fortune 500 company if it was public)

Three friends/roommates of mine started normal tract of study at NCState, all three transferred into AgInstitute (or maybe they were on that tract all along..?)

One for turf grass, one for agbusiness, one for field crop. All three of them walked out with their first choice gig, all three with VERY reputable companies. (Turf grass friend-PGA course management, Agbusiness friend-Cargill, then one of their competitors, field crop friend-management of one of most profitable farming ops in central NC)

The best thing they said they did as opposed to the folks they were in classes with that only did the 2 year program, was to take a full 4 year college experience. All agreed that having the full, normal class load the first two years (or however it was that they spread the courses out, intermixed with AgInstitutue) made them much better prepared both for the Ag-specific program and also more marketable to employers after graduation.

FAA or FFA?
