NC Inspection sticker, $250, "if expires"

Dave - G.S. 20-183.2(a1) exempts "historic" vehicles from a safety inspection. A "historic" vehicle is one that is 35 years old measured from the date of manufacture.

Thanks again Susan! I was going to copy out the pertinent statutes, including the definitions for "Historic Vehicle", when it all got a little fuzzy...

(a1) Safety Inspection Exception. – Historic vehicles, as defined in G.S. 20‑79.4(b)(17), shall not be subject to a safety inspection pursuant to this Article.

I'm probably missing something, but G.S. 20‑79.4(b)(17) doesn't seem to apply... something about surfer tags. However, it appears that G.S. 20‑79.4(b)(55) covers the requirements for "Historic Vehicles" ("antique" tags)?...

Does that mean the "antique" tag referred to in G.S. 20‑79.4(b)(55) must be run for a vehicle to be inspection exempt under G.S. 20-183.2(a1)? Or is the vehicles date of manufacture enough?

Dave - the correct reference is 20-79.4(b)(55). Citation change that was missed when someone added a new definition. It's added to the current technical corrections list and should be fixed this session.

You do not have to have the antique tag for the exception to apply.
