I'm buying a truck tomorrow that is located in Tennessee, I have a few questions, the first is regarding driving the truck home without a licenses plate. Also, the seller says that I do not need the title notarized in Tennessee but I know NC requires that the title be notarized... can anyone clear this up for me. I do not believe I will be able to have a notary notarize the title because I will be picking the truck up in the evening (after he gets off work) and a notary would need to come to his house (sticks of Tennessee) he said he would write up a bill of sale in case I have any problems on the drive home or otherwise...... ANy info would be greatly appreciated.

In regards to the notary, if TN is in fact a no notary state then the title doesn't have to be notarized. NC will process it like normal when you go to register it.

No notary in TN,ever.I would get a BOS for sure.If he leaves his tag on and its good you should be fine.I would think a BOS and the signed title should be enuf to get ya home.

Went through titling last week on TN to NC title, it was signed by seller I filled out my part in front of the lady at the licence agency. No issues. Just keep bill of sell for proof of recent purchase to drive home tagless. I drove one home from Missouri with nothing but a bill of sale and a title.

Thanks, Thanks and Thanks again. I knew NC4x4 would pull through for me!!! You guys just took a lot of stress off my shoulders.

One thing I forgot is to make sure the title don't say "COPY".People around here will take the title to a title pawn then apply for a lost title and resell the car.The reissued titles will be marked "COPY" or should be.

Put insurance on the trucks vin before you go to pickup, this way you will be covered on the return trip.

If deal falls through, just cancel coverage.

Have seller sign title, take title and bill of sale to nc dmv, with your proof of insurance ( full company name and policy number). File for new nc title.

Pay your taxes, registration, and title fee and done.

The deal ended up falling through. But def. something I will be on the look out for. Some scamming ass people out in this world. Sad.
