Looking at a classic/antique car in VA(1958 model) that has NO title. The previous two owners of the vehicle in VA have not had a title, been used on a farm and never tagged. How much trouble would it be to get this vehicle titled and eventually tagged in NC? Do I need to start with VA DMV or NC DMV?

I just bought a 30 year old car out of VA with no title and would like a little more info myself, tuned in to this thread.

I would start with the NC DMV, you're more likely to get help from them. VA law specifically says it's illegal to sell a vehicle in VA without the title, so if it's EVER been registered in VA, you'll have to track down the last legal registered owner, and get them to sign off on it, Or you'll have to go for an abandonment/lien on it.

Sounds like bonded title time. Ive heard it can be a pain from people who have done it. The ones that say theres nothing to it always seem to be the ones selling without titles. I know nc made titling my 70 satellite harder than it needed to be. And it had a clean title.

From what I understand, the DMV here should issue a new VIN and title for it if they can't find it as being stolen. I think this would probably only apply to an antique bought out of state. I've not done it but have heard about it by a guy in NC on a Bronco forum.

get a SC title first. then transfer it to NC.
SC has a process just for this case and it takes 10 days.

I understood your post.
Mine is advice....

Get a SC title first...

If I lived in NC and was in the OP shoes, Id buy the vehicle from someone who lived in SC.
