I'm looking at a CJ3A thats up for sale in the local area, The big thing I'm worried about is it was last titled around 2001, and has a open florida title,
How should I proceed? and what are the pitfalls?
I want this bad, (I'm thinking about selling my project truck and my winch to make this happen,)
Any advice would be helpfull

The The biggest thing is the the title is signed exactly as it is printed on the front.

Make sure the title matches the vin numbers on the vehicle.

Also few years back NC started doing visual inspections of anything that old to make sure its legit.

I would simply make the sale contingent upon you being able to title it.

O.k, That makes sense, and the numbers do match, Does NC require a Notery stamp on out of state titles?
Sorry for so many questions, I just want to make sure all of my ducks are in a row before I end up with more lawn decor.

NC requires the sellers signature to be notarized. BUT that is clearly stated on NC titles, accompanied by the spot for the notary signature and seal.

Other states do not have that requirement. As long as the seller has signed the title properly for that state (FL) you 'should' be fine. I say should be because due to the frequent flare ups of my chronic projectitus, I have had almost every problem you can have at the DMV. You will likely not have any problems what so ever...

excellent advice.

Well, I guess I've got a 70% chance of making this happen, Not such bad odds really,
I guess it's time to put some stuff on the forum and hope some one needs it,
Thanks for all of the help!

I wanna throw this in the mix... If a salvage yard has a body but no title for it, is there a way to get it titled in NC? Salvage place is local but they dont have a title....

^^^Not even a chance...^^^

Also, I was denied the other day at Durham DMV for not having a "Bill of sale".:shaking: Printed a generic one off last night to edit for my needs.

Also, he wouldn't allow us to bypass the original owner and transfer to me. Even though the original owner was there with me. Original Owner had signed it but never registered it.

I was told to go to Chapel Hill or Hillsborough and NOT EVER go back to Durham. Everybody I've talked to that has went there told me so before I went. Too bad Durham DMV is just down the road.

I've had really good luck at the Tag Office off Wake Forest Rd. in Raleigh. It right off 440 by Trader Joes.
