So as the title states, I bought a 2000' Mustang GT from a gentleman on Craigslist a few days ago. He owed money on the car, so we met at his bank so he could pay the car off and the bank could release the title to me. The bank filled out the front side of the title that the lien was satisfied, but filled out absolutely nothing on the back side of the title.

I've purchased and traded plenty of cars and trucks in NC, but never one that had a lien. Is the front information all that needs to be filled out, or did they miss something? I'm headed to the DMV after work(2:30) and would like some information before wasting a trip if it's wrong. I know I need to print and sign my name on the back, which I'll do, but does anything else on the back need to be filled out?

Yes, I already have insurance, current inspection and the required documents to register and tag the car.

Thank you

I usually don't sign when it's being notarized, but last time the Durham DMV at Northpoint said I couldn't sign it in front of him?

Bank signed front then line is released. Do not go to dmv with a notarized title signed by only seller.....this is called an open title......this is illegal. Seller and buyer should sign at same time technically.

Since bank signed front on lien release line u are good

Yep, learned this the hard way one time, luckily the lady at the DMV educated me and then let me take the title and come back later (like 5 minutes, she said I just couldn't sign it in front of her).
