I upgraded the NC4x4 forum software tonight to the latest version. This should fix a number of bugs, including several with the editor (the place where you type your message), not least of which is the quoting bug that people with Internet Explorer have been experiencing lately.
New Features
It also introduces a few new features. In particular:
1. The editor supports drag-and-drop (including with images!!!). Want to upload a picture? Drag it from your desktop or whatever right over into your post. It will upload automatically.
2. The editor supports tagging other users (Twitter-style). So if you want your friend to know you're talking about him, you can do it with @Ron or @RenegadeT, and they'll get a notification that you mentioned them in your thread.
3. Posts are now auto-saved, so if you accidentally navigate away before you're finished, it won't disappear like before.
4. You can now "watch" a forum. This will give you the option of getting an email or a notification any time somebody posts in a particular subforum. So if you want to know as soon as a new thread gets posted in Misc For Sale, you can do that now.
Bugs
There are probably a few new bugs as well. I'm working through several of those, but feel free to let me know if you notice anything out of the ordinary.
1. The Upcoming Events data was corrupted by the upgrade and had to be deleted. It looks like it's working properly now, but the address, map, and attendee stuff for existing threads has been deleted. Similarly, those existing events aren't showing up in the calendar. New events should work fine. Please get in touch with me if you have an existing thread that you would like to set up new event information for. I'm pretty sure we can just create a new event and merge in the old thread.
2. All of the Tapatalk users got a slew of notification messages yesterday when I rebuilt the conversation (PM) data. That appears to be due to a Tapatalk bug and should be patched now.
