How wide ( wms to wms ) are the most easily available rear d44s?

How wide the the narrowest thats fairly easy to get?

Is there a narrowtrack d44? Width?

Is there a ratio close the 4.62 available?

I'm assuming ( don;t know squat about dana or jeep stuff ) a d44 is good up to 35" tires?

Thanks,

Matt

The more common d44s came in Scouts or FSJs... The scout II and waggy are ~60" WMS. The widetrack cherokee is ~63" WMS, and the J trucks are ~65" WMS...

There is also a d44 that came in the Isuzu that is ~58" WMS, also includes 4.56s and disc brakes (IIRC)...

The narrowest that you can get would be a narrowtrack CJ d44 rear... They were ~51" WMS from 1950-1975. Pre-1971 were 2 piece axles, and pre-1972 were offest rear... They also offered one in widetrack (~55" WMS) in 1986, but kinda rare...

The scout, and CJ offer 5x5.5 wheel bolt pattern and FSJ & Isuzu have 6x5.5..

Closest ratio to 4.62 would be 4.56... and they should be axle to hold 35" tires, depending on how much you like the skinny pedal...

The easiest one to get would be the Isuzu Rodeo/Honda passport Dana 44. There are tons of them in the local pull a part. You can pick one up for around 120 with disc brakes. It will have 4.30 gears and disc brakes. They 4 cyl rodeo had a 4.56 gear option but only drum brakes, and I have yet to see one in a junk yard. I have done several online salvage searches and found a couple but they are not worth the money they want for them.
