Was wondering if anybody knows where in Asheville I can rent a torque wrench that would go up to 305 ftlb

I made up an extension from a piece of black pipe. Slipped it over the end of a 1/2 ratchet, welded joint. At other end, cross drilled and welded in a short 1/2" drive extension. Total length is 2x my torque wrench length (to middle of handle). Set wrench on 100lbs, get 300lbs at the end. Close enough as long as you aren't building a space ship. You have to keep the torque wrench and extension straight to be accurate (there is a formula to calculate multiplication if the two are at an angle to each other).

And nobody is curious what the hell needs 305 lbs of torque?

yeah I have no idea how I'm going to crank mine down
I used a 6ft pipe on a 7/8" allen, and pushed on the end with a bathroom scale to about 105lbs.

I've heard of dropping a double acorn lug not in there and then using a socket with an extension.

You're welcome to borrow my 7/8" Allen key. Pre-tested, only been used once. (Well, twice because I did both sides)
