Hey fellas...My little brother has a 20' bass boat with a 200 Evinrude and the transom is going bad pretty much beyond repair. He needs a new hull to swap the engine over to or a shop that can perform a miracle on his transom. He has sponsors, but they only cover gas and entry fees. So I'm wondering if any of you know of a place with repo'd boats, cheap hulls, or any GREAT shops that could fix his transom. He's hoping to get out of this for less than $2-3000. So if you can point me in the right direction or have any info, PLEEEEASE let me know. Thanks.

best I can help ya is craigslist. all types on there.

Since you mentioned it, I've been searching CL and been finding some pretty sweet stuff, now I just gotta figure out how picky he's gonna be.

I didn't get it...but am extremely interested in what you have to say, any chance you'll take a second shot at it?

You should be able to get the transom of a bass boat rebuilt for under 2-3k, and have it look new or very close to new. There are numerous places closer to the beach that could do such a job, but I don't know if you can find any shops near by. I would start checking with local boat dealers if I were you.

Who is the manufacturer?
This is where quality comes in.
If its a Ranger, Champion, Bass Cat or probably Triton call the factory. As long as it hasnt been overpowered they will fix it free of charge.

If he bought the cheapest flavor of the month or a company that is no longer in business, then....

Just have to ask if the strongest part of the boat is trashed, how comfortable is he running 70+mph with that 200....

Well it's a Stratos...and was his first tournament boat and is a mid-90's model. So the thing is about 15 years old, you think he's still got a shot at getting it fixed for free?

Ranger repaired a small (5") crack in my 96 2 years ago for free and replaced all the carpet while they haad it, just because...

if you need it repaired, there are tons of great custom boat builders here in the east that can handle this repair. Given the current state of the custom/repair boat market, I'm sure they'd be open to a good repair for a fair price. Just google some repair/builders here in the east. I've seen quite a few. If you find any potentials, let me know as my brother in law is in and around boats and builders all the time and is in the market. I'd be willing to bet he would know who to go to or if some you find is reputable

Thanks rockcity...I appreciate it. If it needs to head out that far east, I'll be sure to ask you to ask your BIL about the shop

You can try anything fiberglass repair in Welcome, its just outside of winston salem. I work for David Fritts (ranger dealer) we use him for our local fiberglass/Gelcoat repair. He does good work and I would recomend him to anyone who wants a good job done right the first time.
