Need a frame built for a jeep Willys.

I’m looking for a shop around east side of Charlotte to build a 1947 jeep Willy’s frame. The jeep is currently running and driving but the frame is done. So measurements could be pulled from the jeep if that helps? It can be cut and welded together instead of bent. The jeep is around 2800lbs so it’s light. I’m looking to do yj springs as well. 225v6, t18,Dana 20 and Dane 44s. Any recommendations?

Yeah, I contacted throttle down. The problem is the $1k shipping cost. It was going to be right around $4500 for the frame like I want it and shipping. I’m not wanting to do a stock frame because I’d still have to take it to a shop to get everything welded up. Leaf springs, v6 engine mounts, steering box mount. Id probably end up spending more money in the end.

Throttle down is a beefy chassis, 1/8 wall rectangular tubing
Yep it’s a beefy for sure. I’ll probably end up using them if I can’t find someone local to make it. If they weren’t so far away I’d just drive there to pickup the frame. It’s the $1k shipping cost that has me looking elsewhere lol.

Box in the stock frame, maybe some additional bracing, and add mounts for steering, springs and motor mounts. They have free shipping and you'd still be cheaper than a one off.
What HP do you expect to get out of the V6? I would think a boxed frame would hold up to most V6's

It dynoed at 178hp and 238fpt. It has forged pistons, howel fuel injection and a custom ground comp cam for Lowe end torque.

So a shop that charges 100 dollars an hour and spends a week to fab and has zero cost is what your looking for or less.

This is why "most" great fabricators asked to do one off projects don't work in the four-wheelers industry very long.

That’s not what I said at all? Im not looking for a cheap job and I know I have to pay. There is over $6k in the engine, novic built t18, and east cost gear Dana 44s with chromo and e locker. It not a junkyard build.
I was going to have Chris at mats fab build it (he’s done 2 of my jeeps), but he is over a year out right now. I’m looking for recommendations for a shop that can build a frame (not for free). But if I can save $1k in shipping having it built local and supporting someone who will end up doing a cage for me at some point. I’d rather do that. I can also pay cash to keep Uncle Sam out of the shop’s pocket too, if that makes a difference.

Fair enough. But a one off probably want build another in ten year is a hard thing to swallow for most shops if they do high end precision work. Paying a fella plus expenses to map it out make a few fixtures and set up will eat that shipping cost.

I have a spare Willys frame. The spring perches are cut off( I was going to outboard them). Front frame crossmember has a crack but can be repaired easily.
I appreciate the offer man. I already got another frame and was going to have it boxed and what not. But decided if I’m going to spend the money and time swapping everything over. I wanted something built from scratch like I want it. Thanks again though!

They will sell un welded and the shipping is a lot less

Got out my Jeepster Service Manual for my answer. This is stock numbers. Dauntless is a torque monster especially with the 50lb flywheel from back in the day. Howell doesn't give you spark (timing) with the odd fire. You could do (or surpass) these numbers with an Offenhauser intake, RV cam, and a Holley 430 carb and some long tube headers. A 225 SCREAMS with long tube headers!

Yeah the stock 160hp is sae and not net. 110-120hp is what I’ve seen for a stock engine. But that is still better than the 258i 6. Plus the v6 is about 50lbs lighter than the factory L or F heads that came in a factory Willy’s. I want to say the L head was rated around 65hp? So it’s i big hp jump just with a stock engine. Mine is somewhere around 60hp more than stock. In a 2800lb Willy’s it feels like a ls swap lol
