I have a friend with a dead land cruiser on hatteras. It has a bad motor. He over heated it. We need to get it from hatteras to Roanoke va. He has insurance to pay for it, just wants somebody reputable. It's the big v8 landcruiser not an fj40 or fj80

holy crap! thats gonna be one expensive tow bill! When towing back home from out of town, I usually use someone local to my home town. Wether you use someone local to Hatteras or someone local to Roanoke, they are going to cost about the same because its a round trip for either one of them. Your best luck would to use someone from Roanoke because I'm sure mainland tow companies are much more affordable and plentiful than using someone on Hatteras. That would be my first call, to someone local to Roanoke

If you can't find someone, call University Auto Care in Greenville, NC. They may make the trip. I've used Austin and Jackie for years. If they don't want to make the trip, call Service Plus Auto Body. they have a roll back and would likely do the trip. I've used them for 3+ hour, one way tows and long distance tows.

If you can get it on a truck and trailer easily, it may be cheaper to get a hot shot company to haul it for you, they usually only charge 1-way as they try to land other "jobs" close to the drop offf area

If the insurance company will pay for it, will they set it up? I have roadside and towing through my insurance company and they told me that i should call them first and they would help set it up. I didn't do that last time and it took a while to get reimbursed.

I don't know a good towing company but I do have some advice.

1. Is the truck on the sand? Most towing companies will not go out on the beach and those that do, charge for it.
2. Double check the insurance. Most of the policies that I have seen, only cover a certain distance of towing, then the rest is up to the owner.

It might actually be cheaper to go to U-Haul, rent a truck and trailer and bring it back yourself. Plus you would only be hauling it one way. U-Haul if of course if the truck is not on the beach.

this. The ins. co. probably has a specific network they will deal with.

Unless this is some pricey insurance, I find it really hard to believe they will cover that whole bill.
