went out mtn city tn challalantee today not really sure what trail trail im on but i broke a brake line trying to get back up a hill and then got hung up on a bolder and had to creep back down aways to level ground or not so steep any how i was trying to go back the way i came in on because the trail had washed out so had to hike out 12 miles to try and find some help but its not working so well anybody have any ideas

there is a group going feb 7th. if you can wait that long.

Rat's comment sounded smart-assed but it was pretty to the point. i hope ya learned a lesson here. places like URE you can get away with heading down there alone. there is always a crowd. but callilante is off the beaten path and likely hood of someone coming accross you is very slim.

thx

yep learnd alot today the hills r so wet and curve i dont know how im going to get it out big mistake to go by myself without a back up

What's preventing you from getting out?

Brake line? - IF SO... clamp it off w/ some vice grips.. add some fluid and drive it out

Boulder? - IF SO... take a buddy up there and use a come-along and winch it off... then see above...

EDIT: nevermind... I see your problem, Thornbirds... just messing but really the above 2 should work. Most of those trails are accessible to stock 4wd's so you should be able to get back to your truck

yeah, I thought of that, the problem is i am stuck in a wash out at the bottom of the mountain. By the time I realized I shouldn't be going down it, it was too late. i tried turning around w no luck. Cant get back up it because the trails too wet. Cant go further because the trail has turned into a river. Thanks for the info though.

You can still winch it out w/ a come-along.... it'll take some time but you can do it... Otherwise find someone with a winch... or report it stolen and set it on fire. <-- just kidding

lol, only the lewisville-clemmons people responded to a newbie needing help.

your probably going to have to wait for it to dry out if you have thornbirds. find someone with a winch. theres some folks in your area on here. check the upcoming rides section. like i said earlier, there is a group going up feb 7th. callilante is not as popular as URE so maybe you truck wont get picked clean while your gone if you have to wait that long.

CORRECTION:

looks like there is a group going up there on Jan 17th. head over to that thread and start buying rounds of beer.

thanks for the help guys. I got a crew together to get it out in the morning. Rookies mistake. From Wisconsin, used to playing in mud not the mountains

get in touch with Aaron at hcore 4x4, he may be able to help. I will also phona a friend tonight.

edit..phoned a frien, but his jeeps brke, sorry, i tried.

I'll be up there tomorrow(Friday) around lunch time. Let me know if you still need some help.

I am having a hard time figuring out where you were, 12 miles out?!?!?

Maybe just an exaggeration???

Per Chip's question and others, I too am interested in knowing where you ended up at...if you are truly at the bottom of a wash/valley that should be the main path in/out (or off property?)

Sounds like you rounded up a crew to rescue you today, glad to hear it. If not, sounds like Chip will be there tomorrow and I am sure he has a winch.

I suspect the 12 miles is an exaggeration unless he went out another way? Takes a LONG time to hike that far, especially in the hills/grade you have at Callalantee.

Give us a shout when you get back out / or if still needing help!

Believe it or not...he could be 12 miles out or farther even...those trails link up and you could actually go and go and go and go. But I doubt there are any ''cleared'' trails that
could get you back that far now...lots of fences/gates/fallen trees.

Whats the status? I went to ASU and never know of this challalantee... WTF?!!?! I wanna go get stuck!

I hope your rig isnt sitting underwater now!!
