Need a new bank.

X2 on credit union

Then go with BB&T. Always good to me for the last 18 years.

Glad to see that I wasn't the only one having trouble with "Walk all over ya"

I deal with Regions bank now...always a great experience. I stopped dealing with BoA when they told me I couldn't go to the next open teller because she was the only one that spoke spanish and she needed to stay open in case a spanish speaking customer came in. WTF...they couldn't wait in the same line I had to?

Credit Union /thread

Drop the bank and go with a credit union, ANY credit union. I currently use State Employees, Sharonview, and Navy Federal, and there is no way in hell I'd ever switch back to a bank. My wife is a member of Truliant, and she likes them a lot. Just do some research and you'll find some credit union that you're eligible to join.

My brother works at the SECU, he told me a while back that they have relaxed the membership qualifications. Might walk in and see if you can join.

Might use USAA...eligible since my dad is retired navy and they have always been good to us.

USAA is a awesome credit union. You can use anyone's ATM and they refund the fees, and if you have a check you can either deposit the check from home using a scanner, or if you have a iphone you can use there app, and deposit it by taking a picture of there check.

You might also want to look at other USAA products like insurance too. They have always been really good to me, and they are one of the few companies left in the world that have good customer service.

Stay away from First Flight Federal Credit Union. I was dealing with them for a while and their service is CRAP. Told them we wanted to fill out the loan papers (on a Friday morning) for my wife's Volvo and go to Wilmington to pick it up that night. Sat us down and filled out all the paperwork, etc. and 3 hours later told us that it would be Tuesday before we could get the check because the manager wasn't there to sign the check...

Um, hello! We needed to go there on Friday to buy the car! We pissed away over 3 hours on this idiot in the bank who appeared to have no clue what she was doing!

We went with SECU and in 20 minutes walked out with a check for the new car. :)

Lots of guys at my work are buzzing about wachovia screwing something up in their accounts within the last day....... Im a happy secu member.

had wachovia...dad had wachovia and they screwed us both over...i now use suntrust (been pretty good to me so far) and dad uses bb&t

USAA, VACU, SECU....

Dude's right about relaxed ways to get in.
They let people in that have the same address as the member.
hint hint.

Also retired military should always be elligble for USAA.
One thing I did to get secu: my Grandmother was a teacher here in NC decades ago. Well children are elligible. So I told my mother who is in VA to open an account so I could get one.

I am with a CU. Most down here will let you join as long as you work or live in the same county as the CU.

You might also want to look at other USAA products like insurance too. They have always been really good to me, and they are one of the few companies left in the world that have good customer service.

We use their insurance. They are VERY good. Great customer service, and they are fast at getting money to you when stuff happens to the car.

i havent had any trouble with wachovia what have they done?

I deposited my financial aid refund check on 8-31-09. The check was for $3,693.74. I deposited this ON CAMPUS, where I am sure tons of financial aid refund checks where also deposited. Wachovia always gives you a 100 dollar credit when you deposit over 100 dollars.

Had to withdraw $20 on 8-31-09 as well to pay for fixing the Jeep - at that point my Available balance showed 111.44.

Also bought a $20 dollar pair of sunglasses on 8-31-09. Available balance was 90.10.

Tried to call the 800 number last night (9-1-09) to get my balance so I knew if I could go out to eat and check and see if my check went through. Said they couldnt find my account :shaking:

Decided that might just be some error, went out to eat anyways. Tried to use my card - came up as CANCELED.

So then I came home and checked my online account. I am now -$9.90 because they held my $3,693.74 and thus the 100 dollar credit disappeared and thus I over drew my account.

Here is the kicker though, they want to hold my money TILL THE FREAKIN 9th of September!!! That is a damn week+, and I have no cash (used it on the jeep), and pretty much no way of getting any money at all.

So essentially I am flat broke until the 9th, that is until I leave here in 10 minutes to get to the bank and raise hell....

For the record, USAA is not a credit union - it's a federal Savings Bank. But I do have several accounts with them, as well as SECU. Very pleased with both.

after going and raising a little hell at the local wachovia branch, the money magically became unblocked and dropped into my account.

Im still switching to a new bank, whatever. They lost 2 accounts of over 19 years, a mortgage, and me and my sisters account as well.
