Dad is putting a rack and pinion into his ‘55 Ford wagon and it’s tight for real estate. He needs something like this but not trying to spend $60! Anyone have any ideas??

Has to be 90 Degrees?

I’ve got a pair of these in the garage that I’ll mail you if you want them, if you can confirm the size for me. They’re straight, if that can work for you.
Just looked again, I’m not positive that mine are 18mm on the steering box end. I’ll look at them later today and let you know.

i'd do straight and then tight 90 deg...
Might add ~1" to the total length....
JIC (steel) for steering, much cheaper.....
and can be tightened with anything...

Are those the thread size/styles he needs?
Yes

also, yes. I’ll send the links to him thanks.

The straight metric o ring to 90* jic 6 combo should def fit in there. Stick with steel fittings, you'll still be looking at $20 for the pair so almost at the price of buying the specialty 90
