Looks like all the pest control companies are closed on sat. so i thought i'd see if anyone here does that. We have an ant problem. they are getting into the house somehow and I need it stopped at the source. If anyone can help before monday when any of the regular pest people can come out give me a shout.

Hes a friend of mine but Im not sure hes open on weekends or if he goes to Gaston County. Hes out of Mt Pleasant, NC

thanks, but that long of a drive would probably end up costing me an arm and a leg.

We are getting little black ants in the house. We can't tell where they are getting in from but they are only in the back bedroom and the bathrooms. I've sprayed the ones you can see but then they just come up in another room the next day. I just need the source of the problem eliminated.

i've had reall ygood luck w/ teh little "motel" style deals, get the ones that claim "kill teh hive", most hardware stores havet hem.
They smell nice to teh ants and have a slow-kill poison; ants wil lcome anto it and back out, they carry the poison back to the farm and queen, they all die within a few hours.

Ditto what RatGuy said. We had bad ant problems here a few years ago. Put out the metal stake-type bait boxes, problem ended pretty quick thereafter. I put one of the bait traps about every 5' around the foundation. For the couple of days it took to kill them off, we just ran a spray strip of Raid ant stuff around the doors and foundation vents, that worked temporarily to turn them back before getting in the house.

For the ones already in the house....shop vac works great.

ya, i used the lil spikes you stick in the ground. put about 5 or so around the house and they worked great. that was over a year ago, and still no ant problems!

If they are really tiny sounds like you have 'sweet ants' they come around this time of year looking for sugar/sweets. Depending on how clean the kitchen is (or isn't) we see a few to 20-30 running around, a few of those 'kills the nest' ant cups and they are gone for the rest of the year. Seems with all this rain they have been more around this year..

the funny thing is they aren't coming in to the kitchen. Mostly in the bathrooms and bedrooms. Looks like they are coming in around the hvac vents. I put some of the gel type poison out where i saw a few of them and within 10 min. there were hundreds on the poison. I could watch them eat it and go back in the hole they came out of. Hopefully they will take it back to the nest and kill the rest. I also spread some ant killer granuals all over the ground around the house. I guess we will see how it goes.

I had the same problem at a place I rented in college and luckily I knew a guy that worked for the schools facilities mgt and he brought over some stuff they use. He sprayed more around the outside than he did on the inside. He said that the "nest" was either very close to the house or under it and the ants would find any way possible to get in to the house.......
