I'll admit I haven't had a console since my wife smote my PS3 just before the birth of our first child. Anyway, we have agreed that we shall get the kids a Nintendo Switch for Christmas. I don't know squat about these things. Anybody got any insight? I see bundle deals with 4 controllers and I'll be honest, nothing would make me happier than to show my gaming dominance to all members of the family at once but is it worth it? Any game suggestions? I got 6 and a 12 on my hands. Many thanks in advance.

Get the regular Switch & not the Switch Lite. The regular one comes with controllers you can take off from each side to make two small controllers & a docking station to stream on a larger TV. I picked up two other regular size controllers (bc them small ones are tough for adult hands) off Amazon so we can have enough for the whole family to play.

Mario Cart is tough to beat for a few hours of good, old fashion family trash talk sesh.

Regular switch as stated before. My 9 and 6 enjoy Kirby, pokemon lets go Pikachu, and mine craft. Not gonna lie, the kid in me likes pokemon myself. Looking to get my own switch to actually be able to play.

Slight thread derail...
Is there any way to play SuperContra for old Nintendo on a TV with a couple friends?

X2 on the controllers. Get a regular switch that comes with two controllers and then get two regular full size controllers. Any man over the size of 100 lb is not built for those tiny ass things.
Smash Brothers is a big hit, as is Mario and Mario kart.

Our kids are 12 and almost 18, and they play on the switch together all the time. In fact wifey and I were just talking this morning about whether we're going to have to get another one because technically it was a shared gift for them a few years ago and when Jonas leaves for college there's probably going to be a big fight about it.

We have a wii U, not switch yet. But my kids (6 and 8) pretty much just play Mario kart and minecraft.

I got one of these a couple years ago and it has Super Contra on it…has like 180 games on it. I think there are different tiers (read prices) with different games and different amounts of games since they first released. Think this one was like $120…

^^^Outside of that…no help to the original question, I haven’t played video games since Gran Turismo and Madden on PS2.

Sounds like we'll be getting the biggun. I hadn't seen the Lite so I appreciate the heads up on that. They have a bundle that has 4 controllers, Mario Kart, a 3-month access pass for internet fun times. I'm thinking we'll grab that along with some games. Thank you, gentlemen.

On a side note, I'll be interested to see how the Pokémon game is. Me and the oldest play Pokemon Go together so that'll be neat.

Castle Crashers is a (somewhat) newer side scroller that's up to 4 player. Ours will still play it even though they've played it through and beaten it.

Kids still seem to really like animal crossings for it.

I think a new Pokémon just came out for it also, and every kid seems to play Minecraft

We have the switch online subscription and you can also play a bunch of old games free that way.

I'm so glad you asked about these! Our littlest nephew asked for one for Christmas & I'm absolutely clueless about them.

Have you found any super amazing deals on them?
