Need general internet/PC recommendations

I am not not a whiz on the computer by far. I guess I just don't grasp the whole computer language and procedures very well.
It starts at my PC. I have a very up to date unit so its not slow. But when I download pics to save and share I have the hardest damned time getting them where I want them to go and to be able to find and share them sometimes afterwards. I'll get them into the download folder and save them to my pictures, only to lose them when I try to retrieve.
I have a Photobucket account but its now so loaded with ads that I hate trying to use it.
MY OS is Firefox and in the past I could move around, save, and share very easily.
I just cannot see why it has gotten more complicated, it should get easier! One thing I don't do is sit on the PC for hours trying figure things out. Once it screws me a few times, I'm done, I leave it alone.
Is there not a more seamless way of navigation?
 
Yesterday I was posting some pics to another forum and was trying my best to post a 20 second video thru Photobucket and for the life of me it would not work. I could save it, see it and then try to post it to the video link on the site and it would say its done but never worked.
 
I used to be able to download pics from phone or camera and they automatically went to My Pictures where I could always find them. Now, depending on what or where theyre coming from they go to media player, downloads, and I don't know where else.
