need good shop help in mount holly area

got a friend who needs a better deal on work for there 02 ford explorer . thay took it to 2 shops last was dealer. thay are told it needs a tourqe conv. the dealer said $4000 bucks :eek:


thay are willing to spend but 4k to install a new conv. seems a bit high.

its a 02 ford explorer v8 . if you know someplace that is good quality and good price let me know. thay can still drive it so if its a good deal thay will drive a bit to get to the shop. thanks guys. :driver:
 
Shit if they were closer to me id put a tconv in for em for couple hundred... 4000 is what a whole new transmission will cost ya thats a bit extreme!
 
And if it really does need a new tq conv, I'd stop driving it. When the converter self destructs, it takes the tranny with it. Been there, paid for that. If everywhere they take it is coming up with that high of a number, there might be something more to it than the converter. We all know dealers will screw you, but private garages tend not to. Bad for business.
