Need help choosing wheel size

Ok yall, dont ream me if this has been asked before. Yes, I searched.

Im pretty new to the 4x4 offroad world, used to street cars, and need help figuring out the best wheel size to choose. I have a 67 M715 that currently is running stock 16" wheels that can only run military tubed tires. Im looking to buy a set of MRW wheels since he can custom make the lug pattern and hes the cheapest.

Ive noticed most people choose a 16"-17" diameter wheel, but when it comes to width, I have no clue. So what im trying to find is the best diameter and width wheel size that has the best tire selection for on and offroad(mostly offroad)?

Opinions on choice/preference is welcome.

I think a 17×10 would cover most modern tire sizes.

Yeah, go 17". Keep in mind that a 17x8 beadlock will actually measure 17x9 when you factor in the tire mounting between the clamp rings. If you do beadlocks that is.
