whisch is better 4cyl. jeep wrangler or 6cyl. wranglers?

depends on year and which 6 cyl, but for the most part 6 is your better choice.

same engine just one has two more cylinders which equals more power.
the drivetrain on a 4.0 wrangler is a little stronger too.
4 banger you'll save a LITTLE more in gas though.

really just personal opinion and what you are planning on using the jeep for...

Huh? No way, 4.0 6 cyl has like 17% more liters per cyl than 2.5, if it's the same motor plus two cyl, those last two cyl must be huge!
(just playin' w/ ya)

G/F has an 01 4.0 and it drinks the gas, she has to travel back and forth from Concord to UNCC and absolutely hates it. But shes a Jeep girl and doesnt have the heart to get rid of it.

not really going to go wheeling with it. drive it on the beach is about all.

4 is fine for me.

I dont care about going fast, and its not too bad power wise for me. It keeps up on the trail just fine.

Also with the 4 you can lift it with Rubicon springs. The 6 is too heavy for this to work...at least to get any noticeable lift.

On top of that, Ive read that the 4 was geared lower than the 6...dunno if thats true though

The 4 lacks torque at crawl speeds. You just can't idle over stuff even with 4.88s. On road, it does just OK properly geared. Yes, the 4cyl comes with 4.10 gears but that's little consolation given the lack of balls.

not going to wheel with it, just take it to the beach and use it to drive on beach, other than that just to drive.

Look I have a 4 cyl and out crawl most 6. But hey the atlas, nv4500 and 4.88 gears probally help out. :driver:

I have had both. the 4.0 has def more power but they really like the gas. I currently have my kids in 4cyl Jeeps and my dd is a 4cly. For tooling around town and running 60mph or less the 2.5l is great. If I were doing a lot of highway miles at 70 then I would go with a 4.0. My 2 cents

about the only interstate driving i will be doing is on the way to the outer banks. other than that be driving around town. if you get over 65 with 4 does the gas mileage go down?

My experience is that you tend to have to down shift more on the hills or long grades than you would with a 4.0.

a mild 350 in a jeep will get just as good mpg and not work so hard.

No, you dont get over 65 with the 4....

Haha, whatever you say sir.

Ive had mine up to...85 coming through Raleigh, but the GPS was reading me going closer to 95-100...I suppose without the speedo gear changed out, its possible I was going that fast, I dunno.

EDIT**

Thats a 4cyl Jeep, 2 inch lift on 32"s
