ok guys I need some help here about a week ago I had an accident in my truck and I don't know how much it would be worth?I know the insurence is gonna come at me with some low numbers :flipoff2: but I need a ball park range of what you guys think?,the problem is trying to find a replacement truck for the money they think it's worth..so here's the run down its a 84 pick up EX-cab,227xxx miles on a 22r,5speed,4x4,bedliner,rollbar,bumpers frount and rear,7500lbs winch, tube doors, rock sliders, snorkle, and im shure im missing things but you get the idea..any info would be great, Thanks

Insurance will go by NADA or KBB, they don't care about rock sliders or winches, etc. etc.

Take the $$$ from insurance, remove key items and install on new truck or sell for goodies for a new ride...

ain't gonna do it for you....

go to www.nadaguides.com

click on the "used car prices" link

answer the questions.

it'll give you $$

as said above, they don't care about winch, snorkel, etc. If the insurance company totals it, you may have to negotiate removing non-OEM equipment as part of the settlement, or buy the whole truck back from them, remove the goodies, and scrap the rest.

if they don't total it out, get what you can from repair estimates. Depending on who the responsible party's insurance company is, you may have to fight for payment on stuff like a damaged winch, and other aftermarket stuff, possibly in court. Some companies will make a fair settlement, some won't. There is a reason companies like progressive have low rates -- they keep payouts down, often unfairly to one party or another.

If it's totaled, and at the tow company's lot...get it out of there as fast as you can. Many are honest, sometimes aftermarket stuff gets gone. If it is at a tow lot, you may find you have to pay them to remove the aftermarket stuff...they got you over a barrel and will claim insurance regulations, liability, etc won't let you on the lot to remove stuff yourself.

Thanks a lot for the info, I did have it towed to my house after the accident so i coud keep an eye on it..i was worried parts would start falling off walking away

STRIP IT QUICK!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

STRIP IT QUICK!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
If it's a chance it will be totaled, (good chance for that age vehicle) get your parts off as quick as you can.
Most companies will let you take "some" parts off, but other's won't let you touch anything. I had a car get totaled, and I ended up having to pay 50$, AND have their adjuster there with me while I removed MY STUFF, (luggage) from the car at the lot. Fortunately the guy that was there with me was cool, and he let me remove more, but on the phone they were very adamant that if it was totaled, the value they were giving me was for the car and everything on it AND in it.

If it's totaled, ask for the buy back price, when I did it they were asking 10% of the totaled out price. many times they will do this, just so they don't have to mess with it.

I was t-boned by a damn jeep in my f-150 about 6 months ago (the liberty was in much worse shape with parts tossed all around the intersection) State Farm insurance was very reasonable with me through the whole process, they gave me retail price for the truck (which was about $2500 more than it was worth, due to dents and dings) and gave me another $650 for the aluminum tool box that was crushed. I also went to the guys lot that towed my truck, before the insurance company picked it up and took anything I wanted off of the truck, no questions asked. This is the only time I have had a dealing with a insurance company so I don't know about any others.
