hey gentlemen (and women) me and wifey's marriage anniversary coming up Dec 19th and she's had the same rings ever since...time for new one that will be little more beautiful since I can afford a nice ring but also her current ones are too big...she's lost a little weight in her fingers over the many years and they are big ....they were a size 7.
My question/help needed: I need a way to figure out her "ring size" without giving away the special gift and plan I have coming up but have no clue of how to do this without giving the gift away lol...I'm all ears for suggestions. Thank you
My final resort is just get new rings that are a size 6 but then I saw that they have 6.5...wth lol. her current size 7 ring will just about slide off almost past knuckle pretty easily so I was thinking go with size 6 should be right?!?! but how much does the size change from 7 to 6.5 to 6. Sorry not the "usual" stuff here but I'm wanting to really surprise her completely with this. thank you

I'd employ one of her friends in your plot. Or maybe a sister, etc.
Have them come up with a way to bring it up during "girl talk" one day to find out for you.

If you want a totally different avenue - a couple years ago we were both in need of getting our rings resized. I was tired of snagging mine on things and forgetting I'd taken it off to work on stuff etc.
So we had a simple design (infinity 8s) tattood in place of rings. No more dealing with jewelry.
Just a thought. Obviously it also shows that lifetime commitment.

good point, I'll have to see if her friend could come up with a way to "test fit" a ring to find out the size lol. Thank you

On the Tattoo thing, cool idea but no way my wife would ever do that...I'm sure her anxiety/panic attack would flare up....pass out...then I guess she wouldn't feel a thing LOL. I've wanted to get her new rings for many years now but have been waiting to be able to afford something nice. She doesn't care for fancy jewelry, neither do I but her current 16yr old rings were $72 for the set back then when all 5 kids were at home and now I'm exited to get something a little fancy.

If you are buying it from a jeweler then they should resize it if it doesn’t fit. Usually for free. I would go down a half size. So if here size 7 ring is big then just go down a half size. You’d be surprised how much of a difference half a ring size makes for jewelry.

What i did was while we where out Christmas shopping for our family we were at a big mall and was walking around. They had a expensive jewelry store with a sale on and walked in just to look around and a salesman approached us to try to sell us something. So i had my wife to try on some rings that were around $5000.00 knowing we wouldn't buy one. Just to fine out her ring finger size and to get a ideal on what she liked. We left and came home and later in the week i went to our local jewelry store to see if the had something she liked. They didn't have what she and i liked so i had them to make her a new wedding set. The one she liked at the mall store was $4500.00 I took a pic of them when she wasn't looking to show our local jeweler what she like He made a set nicer than the ones she tried on with more carats for $2000.00 and it is a one of a kind set. She bitched me out for spending that much money on her but she loves her new ring set. We have been married for 30 years now. I gave it to her last year at Christmas she didn't have any ideal she was getting them.

While she’s sleeping...put the open end of a wrench over her finger to get an estimate...wrap a piece of string around her finger and mark it...measure the finger with a soft tape measure. Or scrap the whole surprise idea since it’s a ‘re-do’...and make it a big ordeal letting her pick it out. By the way...I designed and custom ordered my wife’s ring and setting from Sylvie...I also hand picked loose diamonds from various jewelers and online sources (I got pretty good with loupes) and had Hayes jewelers in Lexington put it all together, and spent about half of what the retail price would have been.
