I have a buddy with an old 85 camaro. He needs it hauled off to scrap.

I can do this, but I have never been, and dont know what to expect.
I dont think it has a motor/ tranny in it.
He says he has the title but would never be able to find it.
He is my next door neighbor and I have seen this car for years, it's just an old parts car.

He also has some old random scrap metal crap too.
Old heads, maybe a few random junk metal parts.

I heard that you needed a title before they would accept cars now.
Is this true and is it worth fooling with?

Um

If I remember correctly they are only wanting titles or proof of ownership for newer cars and trucks. I think you will be ok with an '85 but call and ask them.

I am about to do the same thing, except its an early 80's Mr2 no title, gas tank, battery or tires. The plan is to take it to TTE in garner, i hope i dont get hassled for not having a title.

car pays less per lb than pure scrap because of the plastic BS weight on the car.
My local scrap yard doesnt require titles past 90.

Also spending 10 minutes to pull the radiator and sell it separate, can net as much as the car itself sometimes. Also Local buys junk "truck" batteries for $18 I guess for the lead?

x2 on this.
The rate per lbs they give you on the car is pretty low.

However, if you have things that are JUST steel, or especially just Aluminum, take those seperately - the rate for "pure" metals is much higher. And yeah, yank the radiator, and the cataltyic converter, too.

The one here requires tires to be off also...
(in addition to gas tank & battery removed)
