Mother-in-Law, Wife and Kids are heading for Wilmington today. They'd like to stay at the Beach. I'm figuring Wrightsville. I've never been so Anyone have recommendations? they don't have to stay at the beach, but would prefer it.

There's 2 adults 2 Kids and an infant so a Suite might work better. I know we've got some Wilmington members here, so help me keep them out of the bad areas.

there really isnt a bad area to stay in that have any decent hotels,so as long as they stay in a decent hotel they should be safe,i cant begin to tell you any places toward wrightsville,i dont go there,to rich for my blood, there are several hotels right on college and market that should be fine just for a few nights, the innkeeper, the comfort inn,the sleep inn,the wingate inn and the mainstay suites, there is also a extended stay on eastwood thats maybe 5 miles from wrightsville, and the rooms are all big, hope this helps a little

I try to stay away from wrightsville it can be crowded tell them to go out the road a little to carolina beach it's nicer and a little less crowded.

Go on down to Carolina Beach and stay at the Golden Sands motel, It is not the nicest place in the world, not dirty or anything, but they have a good restaurant and a tiki bar on the pier, on the beach, live music some evenings, and all the  you can drink

Get them to stay in the junction area at the Ameristay. It's central to everything in the area. Lowes, Home Depot, gas stations, walmart, and a bunch of restraunts. 15 minute drive to carolina beach and about 25 to wrightsville. They also have some type of indoor pool/hot tub I believe. One of the nicer places ad is just as nice as the chain hotels such as holiday inn

yeah where Josh is talking about is pretty nice and clean, also they have Rucker Johns right next door,so they can eat good,on CB they have the marriot, all face the ocean, they are pretty big and have a fridge, plus all the mom and pop motels,if they are going to be here a couple of days, she may also want to call the atlantic towers, these are condos for rent,on the ocen, have a indoor/outdoor pool and elevators, they sleep like 8-10 people and are fairly reasonable

I guess ill give you a place on my side of town. Go to Mayfair. There is a hotel behind the Harris teeter that seems to be pretty nice. At Mayfair you are less than 5 miles from wrightsville beach, and with in walking distance to the Mayfair strip, with cheep restaurants up to more pricey/fancy restaurants (macaroni grill). you also are really close to the movie theatre. If you decide against going to the beach one day, you can go from there into Wilmington's college area, or you can just head down the road and are less than 8 miles from historic down town. IMHO it is the nicest location.

Also if you do go to Wrightsville, go to the north end near johnny mercers pier. The crowds are significantly less north of the JM pier.
