My 88 4runner is my DD and I have already put 4.88's and 33's,tires and block lift. How does a IFS lift kit hol up to mild wheeling on weekends. I go to the south port to fish and I go to Uwharrie. Does anyone here wheel a IFS lift and how does it do. Thanks for any help/

I used to wheel an IFS 4runner (untill I sas'd it). The IFS lift will allow you to run larger tires, but won't add any travel, but this you probably already know. The kit itself holds up pretty well, people say you will blow CV's all the time... but you won't (in my experience). I did however grenade a front diff on 35's. Control your wheelspin and it'll live. Mild wheeling you should have no problem at all. As far as ride quality and driveability, its about the same as stock. Unless you are serious about crawling, keep the IFS.

I am kind of curious, do oyu not have a lift of any kind on the front now?. How did you fit 33s under there w/o rubbing the snot out of them?

3 inch. body blocks and cranked the front up. and blocks in the back. My diff's are open and it did great a uwharrie last summer. I picked up a 79 yota pickup for the front axle but I have not decide which way to go. I had new cv's, 4.88's, seals, bearings, hubs, tie rod's, idealer. I put alot of money inher last summer. I talked to a guy with a ifs lift and he told me he never had any problem's. I just wanted some more input. Kinda broke and tring to get ready for some wheeling. Thanks for any input and this is my first yota and i'll never go back to a cj or J 10 . They were fun but the 4runner wins hands down..:driver:

ya i could see why it was broke alot
I don't do that any more, I go easy and crawle. Me and my friend had cj7 and we put them throw hell. I have learned to be easy after the wife looked at my summit bills. That was my toy and wheel it hard. My 4runner is my DD and can't do that anymore. Here is my last project but I sold it last year and it turned head's. 38's boggers and 454, 700r4 trans. Kinda wished I keep it, but owell.:bronco:

The IFS will surprise you as to how well it will hold up. Use your head and it'll be a great 'wheeler for you.

since your stiicking with the ifs, what are you doing with the79 toy?

I have not decided, I got it from a friend and the frame is shot. and no doors and missing a fender, The only thing its good for is the axles and motor, tranny, tcase. It starts up but the carb. leaks. I drove it 4 miles with a gas tank in my lap and it runs pretty good and I think it only has 89,000 miles on it. It was a beach truck and that says how the frame is :shaking: . It has a homemade bumpers with a towbar on the front. I gave 250.00 for it and its still sitting out back. I'll let it go for 200.00. I have no title. I was going to use the drivetrain..

I've had 5 solid axle yotas an one IFS runner, stock. beat it like a retard on a drumset, but I broke shit. 3 cv's and several idler arms, among other things. broke a flexplate jumping it. However, if you don't beat it too hard your IFS stuff will hold together pretty good. just learn how to replace the stuff that breaks and carry trail spares. I probly wouldn't waste any money on the IFS lift.

OK....i am working off both your threads...

1st. If you want a IFS lift...check Pirate 4x4 for sale section. There are used lifts there all the time from people taking them off...to do a SAS:shaking:

2nd. If you put a 350 in it....the front end will not hold up....personal opinion of course. the CV are prone to brake with a 120 HP 4cly and 33s. And more weight and more power.....your choice.
