im looking at getting a bender. i have been lookin at the model 3 bender from J D squared. can any tell me anyother good benders that are reasonable priced. also i would like to know what radius you would recommend when ordering my die. im gonna be bending 1.5 inch tubing thats .120 wall .

the jd squared is what i use. 1.75" is the most popular for buggies and cages. i use a 6.5" radius die. my 1.50" die has a 5.5" CLR

Pro tools is typically cheaper and at least used to be stronger, now they both make "HD" benders. There are several different cheap vertical benders being sold all over now as well...

I've got a Pro-tools 105HD and have been pleased with it. I've seen a few other brand names bounced around on here, but I can't remember them at the moment.

I have the JD Model 4. Air over Hydraulic. It is SWEET!

the reason im lookin into a bender, well you know how it goes. i started with cutting the rear frame off for the four link setup and then my mind started to spool up like a turbo. so now i think theres not gonna be much left of the toyota when i get done exept alittle frame and the 22r on propane.

I just ordered a pro-tools 105 with all the accessories and a die set for $740 shipped to the house.

I think the differences between the two are negligible unless you're stepping into a bender for much more money than that.

ok im looking at the 1.5" dies and i was wandering something, im lookin at the part numbers and on has a 90 and the 180. im assuming that stands for 90 degree or 180 degree. which one should i get and why.

Get the 180 if you can afford it. You will probably make more bends at 0-90deg, but you can do that with a 180deg die. With a 90, you are limited to that, so you can't make a hoop or any other acute angles.

Look into TubeTek. http://tubetek.net/index.php

He is out of Asheville, and his prices are good. I have one of his benders and have been happy with it. It isn't one of the ultra heavy duty benders on the market, but has held up perfectly to a fair amount of use for me. I think it was $435 for the bender and a 240 degree 1.75" die.

There ya go! Someone finally said it. His benders are great...owned one myself. You can have one with a die for about $425 to your door.

If you want aoh and all the works (stand, etc) you can get it under $650.

Call him, he knows his :poop:
