Anyone here any good at identifying and sourcing panelling to match that from old homes? My home was built in the late 60's and has wood panelling in the laundry room. I need a 4x8 sheet and I can't find any to match. I know its a long shot... here are some pics:

Any one have any guesses?

auto corrected against my will...

I'd guess white oak, but good luck finding any to match... your best bet would be to figure out something different or paint it.

you could try a custom cabinet shop. or if you have a table saw, get some oak luan or thin plywood (1/4 to 3/8) and rip dados to match the old stuff, then match the finish

Ditto on not trying to match it.
Keep in mind if it's original, it's had 50 years to fade and change color. I'm assuming i's just a veneer coating but it'll still change.

Our house in Lewisville had real tongue & groove wood paneling. The PO had left pictures there for 40 years, when we moved in tehre were squares and rectangles every where :D. Only option was to paint it... which turned out pretty well.

paint or replace. You'll spend too much time trying to match something that prob. doesn't exist. Spend your time updating with something new.

SAME STUFF IN OUR LIVING ROOM AND OFFICE! Ok, no real usuable contribution...my bad.

Well, I am in the middle of getting a refinance for 3% APR for 15 years. There is one place where I had the plumbing replaced where the paneling is cut and has never been replaced. I wanted to present the appraiser a good looking laundry room, but I don't think that is going to get fixed in time. I have already rocked over the living room, but I haven't done the laundry room. Oh well, maybe I can put a book shelf there... I will eventually sheet rock this too. But, I have a 4wd habit that is constantly in the way!!! :burnout:

Get a big picture in a frame, set it over it. Even if it's near the floor, just lean the picture up against it, so it looks like something that has been set aside to hang but hasn't been done yet. Borrow the picture from a buddy if you have to, you only need it for 1 day ;-)

you can go to lowes an look at there paneling they may not have the same color but they do have the same kind of design with the wood look we just got done putting some up for my boss in his house boat

were you ever able to find replacement paneling?

I just went through this at my house. Old paneling is nearly impossible to match. I painted mine. Even the spacing was different on the new stuff. After painting it and ripping it in the right place, only I can tell any difference.

I wouldn't let a piece of not-exact bother me? Just grab what your local home improvement store has and paint the room. Even if the grooves are different, no-one will EVER notice after the room is painted. Use a good coat of Kilz first.

Fastest - easiest - less hastle and probably all said and done after running around trying to find exact being the cheapest option as well.

My opinion.
