anybody in burlington, graham that could maybe help me with my shackle flip?? I dont exactly know how to do it. I have an idea but i'm not 100% sure. i know that u grind the rivets off and put grade 8 bolts back in it. and u take the shackle and just flip it over. but if i leave my 3" blocks in there it should be ok right??? Btw: this is so i can gain 3" on susp in the rear. i have 3" now and i want 6". Btw: this is for a 78 f150 4x4.

i've been reading and u take the hanger and flip it over and move it foward 1-1/2" and and bolt everything back up. it's "suppossed" to give u 5" of lift. btw: u any kin to kenneth caulder??

My brother did it on his 77' F-100. At least I think thats what he did. PM him Bigbody79 if you need any tech advice. I'm not 100% sure thats what he did or he know everything about it. Ill call him tonight and tell him to check his in-box

what I did was take a leaf spring mount that is exactly like the one in the front. I went to jy and torched it off for me. Then i took off the rear hanger. I drilled four new holes. rememeber that you angles are going to be different. Make sure you don't make it line up the same you need to move it forward. Your shackle angle is going to depend on this. I gained about 4 inches of lift like this w/o the blocks.

alright...can u snap some pics?? so i can see

It's not that simple.

It'll probably fawk up your pinion angle, requiring you to cut and turn the spring perches or use alignment shims to correct the pinion/driveshaft alignment. You can't use shims with blocks. You shouldn't be using blocks at all in the first place.

The stock shackles aren't strong enough to be used in compression. You have to build new shackles or find F450 shackles to replace the ones you have now.

You'll also need to find a pair of front spring hangers (or build new) if you expect to get that much lift. Simply flipping over the stock bracket only nets a couple of inches of lift.

Shackle flips drastically lower the roll center at the rear axle, causing a variety of unintended consequences. It'll body roll more, it'll jack and hop more (due to the increased AS).

save your money steven and buy full springs. its well worth it.
4" superflex rear springs cost $479.00 from broncograveyard.com
their 4" is equivalent to other brands 6" and have more flex.
