Need some ideas on camping.

I am not sure this is where to post this. If not please move to the correct place. I just recently purchased a 2001 double cab 4x4 tacoma with a locking rear axle. First toyota I have ever owned. I am still rebuilding my crawler and have been needing something to take out and go camping and expo tyoe stuff in. I am wanting to go somewhere with in 2hrs from Winston Salem this weekend camping. I want it to be on some dirt road type areas that I can explore and all. I don't want URE. I want to go up in the mountains where it will be cooler. If anyone has any suggestion that would be great. I have done the Globe road and others around Boone. I am looking at somewhere near Galax or that area. Thanks.

Just throw the tent in the back of the truck and head up to Galax. there is a cool bike trail up there called Shot tower.
