Need some new employees- Asheville area

One good thing about not having a driver is being the driver, yourself. Getting out from behind a desk is refreshing.

Wral sort of acknowledges the problem here, but they slide in a dig on minimum wage. But honestly, who only pays minimum wage?? Our starting pay for bottom of the barrel line workers is almost double minimum wage and we are struggling mightily to draw people out of unemployment.

Across the Triangle, places are in hiring mode with not many people answering the call. Experts say unemployment benefits could be a factor as those in this industry might be making more off benefits than working a 40-hour week.

We get ghosted like crazy on interviews. Were working on about 15% show up rate right now. One restaurant I talked to last week got ghosted 12 times in a row for interviews

Employers should have interview tokens that applicants have to collect in person. If you don't collect 2 tokens per week, no benefits. There should also be some sort of follow up from unemployment office with employers.

"Did bob interview with you this week?"
"Why yes he did"
"Did hire him?"
"I was going to, but he left the interview and never took the drug test. He has since quit answering my calls or texts"
"That's too bad, fuck bob. I'm cutting off his unemployment money because he is obviously using it for drugs"
 
The machine builder I do some work for has been trying to hire people for the last couple of months, I am not in on the details, but starting pay is 2x-4x min. Wage and they can't even get people in for an interview.
The few people that have done the walk through either wanted more than the pay scale or appear to be incapable of distinguishing a hammer from a ham sandwich.
Crazy times......TV tells me every person is unemployed, radio says every company is trying to fill positions. What do you do all day on unemployment?
 
The best part is the people who apply for the jobs just to say they applied for jobs to get unemployment. High level pharma engineering firm looking for senior engineers and we get people who worked everywhere from driving a bus to working at a nail salon.

He did. 10 minutes early actually.
He already knew how to use a banding machine, run a forklift and load a truck (was a Class A driver for 10 years). He is making a delivery as we speak and all looks promising.
Good dude, likes his free time and really appreciates our hours (730-330) so he can kayak and spend evenings with his family.
