Need some trailer help

Hey y'all, I'm trying to help a buddy out. He owns a DJ company and uses an older PSD ambulance for hauling the equipment around. He's blown a fuel line or something to where he can't drive it except to get it on a trailer. The towing company wants over 200 bucks to tow it. It's right at about 9600# in weight and is about 8 feet wide. The only trailers we can find are low boys and he can't fit between the fenders. Where can we get a deck over that he can fit on? Anyone have one that can handle that much weight? We've got a diesel excursion, my CTD, and a fire departments 550 available to tow it. We've tried sunbelt, hertz, and a few other places.

Don't know how helpful it is, but here's something a friend put together out of scrap to tow my truck with on his trailer. You can see the wood next to the wheelwells. Tested it with his flatbed dually first and it's a standard sized trailer so it should work for you too...

I'm worried about an dolly, so we're trying to stay away from that.

The problem with a low boy is that the box of the ambulance hits the wheel wells. We can drive it onto the trailer but it'd bottom out when it got past the front wheels.

I'm guessing it's not an easy fix, I haven't looked at it but my buddy is saying it needs to get to a shop.

It's gotta be bumper pull. Any other suggestions?

deck over equipment trailer....gonna be talll

If you can pull it over the fenders, and the only issue is bottoming out when you pull past the fenders, lay some 2X6's down to raise it up enough to clear. I had to do this on a car once when I pulled it on my trailer to be able to open the door and get out.

even if you rent a trailer how much is that going to be?

might not get out ahead to just have it towed by AAA. if it swan dives of their trailer then it is them.

I'm sure they do if it isn't a full size ambulance. AAA wants over 200 bucks to tow it. Any suggestions as to where rents bobcats other than hertz and sunbelt?
Where to rent a bobcat in NC? Maybe NC Bobcat? :flipoff2:

Also called triangle equipment, right off of Lumley by the airport.

I guess I am being dense...by the time you rent a trailer burn the tow vehicle gas waste the time etc....why not call a tow truck.

Let them figure out how to move it.

Yeah, I know what you're saying. My buddy is just really set on towing it and not getting AAA out there. I'm pretty sure they told him he'd have to drop the driveshaft for it to be that much too.
