just wondering if anyone has been in from the Tennessee side lately and if they still let you drive your truck from the green cove motel to the trail head if it isn't tagged. Didn't know what the situation was up there, i know there has been alot going on, and last time i was up there the ranger i talked to said they were thinking about making anybody staying in the campground on the other side of the creek put their trucks on the trailer to go back and forth to the trail head. we are trying to figure out where we can stay and drive our trucks back and forth from the trail. Thanks

Tn.

As far as I know they have never let you drive from Green Cove to the trails with out a tag in recaent history. You may have gotten by a bunch, but you have been lucky. My tag is recessed a little and the same guy has pulled me over four or five times in the last four years. One would think he would remember an orange Toyota after a while.

I finially got ahold of the lady at the hotel and she said the same thing. She even mentioned that they have gotten worse lately, that the same guy sits right around the corner from the hotel and waits for people to come by. I think we will probably just stay in murphy with some friends and avoid the whole mess

Sounds like the business owners need to band together and complain that the Police are hurting their business by being pricks! I'd call the motel back and tell them that you won't be staying there because of the police.

FYI, I wouldnt try to get a room or the next few weeks anyway.

Peak leaf season.

she said that they had rooms for all of my group for the second weekend in november it is just not worth the hastle we can stay for free and drive 10 minutes farther and be in town at night that counts for alot Advance auto or napa always get at least a couple hundred bucks when i go

Yea, tennessee side sucks. I drove from lower 2 to the campground due to damages and they ticketed me. That isn't but like 300 yards. But they have to make money somehow. I will stay in NC from here on out.
