Need tips on non starting cherokee

Alright to start it is a 1998 Cherokee classic. I just swapped in a motor i bought off craigslist and it will crank but not start. Ive double checked all my connections, set the timing. Its getting fuel and spark. When cranking it pops in the intake. Im running out of ideas to try. any advice on what i should try next?

I should probably add its a stock 4.0

Are you positive it's timed correctly? Good compression?

I think this thread would be better off in the general tech section,as for your problem it does sound a little like timing
