Need to demo a building in Burlington

Charlotte folks are too far a way. Much depends on the size & construction of the bldg. Cost are thing like getting a permit, & landfill cost. Something simple like an unattached garage or small storage bldg, probably won't need a permit. Their are companies RCI, & DH Griffin, in the Raleigh area. They will do an estimate that includes all cost. Probably smaller companies in your area too, but CHECK their background!

I'll get you a number of a guy my BIL knows. His name is Randy Nelson but I can't remember the name of his company. He's good and usually very affordable.

What kind of building? when was it built?
How was it finished out?

Any company that does this a lot will do an environmental report if they find asbestos cost will sky rocket. I think I was quoted around a 100 sf to remove just. The asbestos

Enviro report was already done. I was surprised to find that there was no asbestos. It’s an old textile building built in the early 1900’s. Added on to over the years and now condemned. Maybe 20k square foot.

How much is gutted? What is the time frame? Is it already a no access space because of some higher authority?
I am assuming brick and mortar with interior wood beam floor contruction.
Multi story? One level? Basement?

I always thought it’d be cool to use the fire department for something like that if possible. They can use the opportunity for training. However there will still be a need for removal of certain things before burning.

I can give you a number for a guy that can provide dumpster service and may also be interested in the whole job, much cheaper that DH. I will send you a PM.

If it has large wood beams and wood members call Appalachain hard woods they may be interested in buying the wood or working out a deal to get it demoed and take the wood

Sent you a pm. My guy has multiple options. He can also do any sight prep after the fact.

Approach the Fire Department to do a live burn training?
If it is inside the city of Burlington they won't do controlled burns unless the city owns the property. However, if it is out in the county and just has a Burlington address the volunteer departments might. Maybe not for that large a building though.

Much harder for Fire Depts to get Burning permits today. Most FDs are looking for houses. Not too much into buildings especially condemned ones. Generally only the County owned landfills, accept Burned material. They usually charge more than Private landfills, & don't permit Private LF to accept burn material, roofing, or construction material.
Most Every Vintage Mill taken down now days, are "recycled" as much as possible. Old Brick, just like Old Lumber is valuable. Then the steel is scraped, & the left over brick & concrete is ground or hauled to a recycling seller. Biggest amount to be Dumped, is the roofing material. I don't have names, but Companies Pay to recycle these Mills.

What if you stained a bunch of furniture you build inside and accidentally leave linseed oil soaked rags everywhere?
