They make a yearly guitar/bass/other instrument "blue book" of sorts. It might actually be on the interweb now...

Yep. Follow a few Ebay auctions ending on Saturday or Sunday. An item is only worth what someone will pay for it. Not what a book says what people will pay for it...
As for condition, you need to look at many things. I'd get any guitarist to check it out. Neck straightness. Bridge and fret heights. Tuner key stiffness. Type of wood. Pickups if it's electric? Chips and dings. But most of all how it sounds. Just to name a few.

And always have something looked at twice. I don't care how good you are a different set of eyes can always find something different.
