Hey lobg story but helping my buddy with a cj7 now has a 6.2 ls and what looks like a turbo 400 not getting any gears and fluid appears correct but dipstick is not well marked. What would be some things to look for. does anyone have an idea of fluid capacity for the 400
 
does it have a modulator? (near dipstick) if it's a 400 it will hold around 12 qts.
if the filter falls out it won't move.
was the converter free when he bolted everything together.
check the fluid with the motor off, then check it with motor running and see if the fluid level drops.
 
sorry lee it was urgent its for a guy who had Cancer (RIP) but we were trying to get him a drive in his Jeep before it was too late. What we figured out was that we had a turbo 350 and that they had used an adapter to mate it to the dana 300 but had the wrong input on the 300 so we had drive but it wasn't spinning the 300. I appreciate the help and its been hetic here lately so I am sorry for not replying sooner.
 
I'd better pass on some thanks to Lee, also. I had an inquiry about a Ford Escape, fluid change, & reverse gear. I changed the fluid, returned the "Lucas Conditioner", & purchased the "Lubegard". It might not have needed any conditioner, but it didn't hurt it any. Transmission & reverse, feels Much stronger/firmer, now! Thanks for the advice Lee!:)
